Dr. Kathy Augustine to be DeSoto ISD’s new superintendent
Last night the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees selected Dr. Kathy Augustine as the lone finalist for the position of superintendent for DeSoto ISD. Dr. Augustine is the current associate superintendent of instruction for the Atlanta Public Schools in Georgia. The search for a new superintendent began in January after current Superintendent Lloyd Treadwell announced his retirement this coming June.
Dr. Augustine has served as deputy superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Atlanta Public Schools since 2001 and has more than 34 years of experience working in an urban school setting. Prior to joining the leadership team in Atlanta, she was the assistant superintendent of high schools for Newark Public Schools. She has also served as special assistant to the superintendent for New Orleans Public Schools and was a principal for elementary and high schools. She began her education in 1975 as a teacher.
Dr. Augustine received her Ed.D. from Harvard University and earned a M.Ed., Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University as part of Harvard’s Urban Superintendents Program. She received a M.A., Educational Administration, from the University of New Orleans and a B.S., Elementary Education, from Loyola University in New Orleans

When Atlanta Public Schools was investigated by the feds for falsifying discipline date (40 inner city schools, ZERO discipline reports???) the best Augustine could tell the Atlanta paper was “perhaps our reforms are working so well, there are no discipline problems to report.”)

When an independent agency investigate the Atlanta cheating scandal and concluded the gains made were 6 standard deviations outside the norm, a ONE in one BILLION likelihood of being legitimate Augustine brushed off ANY attempt to investigate saying “we expect outliers every year.”
One in one BILLION? No need to investigate?
And that’s EXACTLY the attitude that brought the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in to investigate FELONY fraud.
