Duncanville Volleyball

The DeSoto Lady Eagles played the Duncanville Panthers in a JV volleyball game. The game started out on a positive note as #9 Jada Richwood, Sophomore, made the first point by spiking the ball. The score rapidly changed leaving DeSoto down by one, until #12 Aaliyah Archuletta, Freshman, managed to make a point, tying the score 4-4. As more points were made though, Duncanville slowly retook the lead, and the first period ended with DeSoto down by four.

However, that quickly changed in the second period. The Lady Eagles came back with fire in their eyes and a will to win. With #12 Archuletta, Sophomore, scoring multiple points, the score was tied. Then they were up by one, then two, then four, with terrific blocks by #15 Tira Smith, Sophomore, and #14 Christina Gilbeaux, Junior. The lady Eagles continued to take the second period by storm, scoring a total of 25 points compared to Duncanville’s 15.

It all came down to the last period. With the first to gain 25 points becoming the winners, Duncanville came back strong, leading for most of the time. Near the end, DeSoto was down by six, nonetheless #12 Archuletta, Sophomore, scored by spiking their 20th point, leaving Duncanville up only by 3. The game drew on, and #15 Smith, Junior, was able to block Duncanville’s attempted spike, earning another point. The game was very close now, but the DeSoto Lady Eagles ultimately suffered defeat.
