The Lady Eagles Varsity volleyball team had a successful breakfast fundraiser involving the DeSoto community. Held on September 27, the Varsity team became waitresses and served to the community that came out to support their fundraiser.

“It will be an annual event, the first event in about eight years,” Coach Rhea Reed said. “We just revamped it this year to try to raise money for us. We’re striving for 1500 to 2500 dollars.”

The DeSoto Volleyball team planned this event in order to raise money for their banquet, volleyball equipment, and any other expenses. Having this money well help the volleyball team progress to become a more efficient team.

“It’s a good way to raise money,” Morgan Johnson, senior, said. “It was really weird for me to serve my parents.”

The volleyball team worked from the front of the restaurant—seating people and taking orders—to the back of the kitchen—passing out plates and filling drinks.

“I think for our first event it was a success,” Coach Reed, said. “I think it [was] a good turnout since this is our first year, it [went] well.”

As the event came to an end, overall, the support for the Lady Eagles was great. As time passed by, more and more people came to give money and eat a nice breakfast.
