The DeSoto Eagles Football team is on a roll. They have been known for superb football programs in the past, but this year is incredible. DeSoto football is breaking records in several categories. With five teams from grades 9-12 (Varsity, JV-A, JV-B, Freshman-A, Freshman-B), coaches are impacting over 25% of the male population of the school – many of whom are leaders in their academics as well.

There are many stats to be known. DeSoto has the highest student-athlete participation in program history, including 401 players across all three teams. The best overall record (46-2-1) with Varsity being 11-0, in program history. 65 seniors, which is the most in program history. Three All-Americans which includes, QB Shawn Robinson (Army), OL Edward Ingram (Under Armour), and OT Xavier Newman (Under Armour).

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the premier high school football All-American game. Due to its distinction as “Military City USA,” the Bowl is held annually in San Antonio, Texas. The 2017 U.S Army All-American Bowl game will take place on January 7, 2017, at 1:00p.m.

“It feels good being an All-American. It’s what I’ve been working toward since I was little. All glory to God!,” Shawn Robinson said.

The Under Armour High School All-American game is a high school football all-star game held in Florida created to spotlight the nation’s top high school seniors. The 2017 Under Armour All-American game is Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 1:00p.m on ESPN.

“It’s a great feeling being able to be an All-American. At the same time, it takes hard work and determination. I’m so blessed and thankful and it’s a great opportunity for me to showcase my skills and talents against the best high school players in the country,” Xavier Newman said.

“It really doesn’t feel different being an All-American. The only thing that feels different is knowing that you have accomplished something that not many people can accomplish. It shows all the hard work I’ve put into the 4 years I’ve attended DeSoto to get me this far. My mom always told me to stay humble so I’ll never let the title All-American change who I am,” Edward Ingram said.

This DeSoto Eagles Football class of 2017 team is getting the job done. More records will be set very soon so stay tuned.
